It’s important to check in with your goals from time to time and evaluate where you are; and get to work on them – if there are goals you haven’t accomplished yet.
Being clear on where you are vs. where you want to be in specific areas of your life – whether it’s your career, finances, relationships etc. takes a conscious and intentional effort, and that’s what ensures change and promotes growth.
Clarity helps you determine the objective – where you want to be, what that end result looks like.
Goals help you work out a plan to get there.
Dreams, imaginations and visualizations puts some character on those goals.
Don’t think of a goal as some monstrosity which takes years and years to accomplish – yes, some goals are that way.
But, you can start with something simple and fun like reading one book a month, or creating parts of your BA resume, learning a new skill, spending more time with your loved ones, or losing 2 pounds whatever it is; have a clear objective and make those small changes (disciplines) and keep at it.
Doing this puts YOU in control and if you can maintain the discipline and persistence required to accomplish one small goal, then you can do just about anything.
I’ll leave you with this quote by Seth Godin.
“Today, choices are everywhere. Which means that not only do we have to wrestle with insufficiency (of respect, of compensation, of reliable work) but we also have to take responsibility for our freedom…
The freedom to choose something better, and even more important, the freedom to do work that matters”
As always, cheers to your BA career success…
